Blogger's Note:
I began my walking diary on 10/14/2016. However, it wasn't until November, that I set up this blogging site. That explains discrepancies in dates/times mentioned in early entries, and the shown date of posting. For chronological list of posts, please click on the blog archive link in the right side column under my profile.

Good Thoughts, Good Walk

I'm heading out again for my half mile. Yesterday was easy, and I'm expecting today to be the same.

It's funny what I think about when I'm walking. Tonight I was looking down at the pavement which had a lot of rocks in the concrete. For some reason those rocks took me back to my childhood home and my best-besty friend, David.

David - who now goes by Dave - and I were practically inseparable from birth until I moved away at age 12. We lived across the street from one another. Our mothers were very close friends and pregnant at the same time. David was born in August and I was born in October. We practically learned how to crawl and walk together. I know for certain we learned to ride bikes at the same time. He taught me how to fish, bat a ball, climb a tree, and many other things. If I got to invite a friend somewhere, it was David; and he did the same with me.

He moved after I moved and we didn't see each other again until I walked into a political science class at LSU. It was great to see him, but we didn't stay in touch past that class. Many, many years later I was living in Mississippi and daily checking the New Orleans obits. My breath was taken away when I saw his mother's name. I signed the online guest book. Within an hour he was contacting me via email. We agreed to meet the next weekend for coffee in NOLA. I was sooo very good to see him!

Walking this half mile went by very quickly today. Thinking of something so special helped.

So, it’s one foot in front of the other to the finish line!
